Phoenix Area Service

Thermostat Not Working or AC Not Responding

If the thermostat is blank, not calling for cooling, reading wrong, short cycling the system, or not matching the actual room temperature, CTS can check the thermostat, controls, low-voltage wiring, safety switches, and the AC equipment it controls.

Thermostat and AC control repair

Thermostat problems may come from settings, batteries, low-voltage power, float switches, transformers, wiring, control boards, or equipment faults. CTS tests the control path before replacing parts.

  • Thermostat blank or not responding
  • AC does not turn on when cooling is selected
  • Room temperature does not match comfort level
  • Short cycling, delayed starts, or intermittent calls for cooling
  • Thermostat, low-voltage, safety switch, and equipment checks

Thermostat wiring and AC controls

Sometimes the thermostat is the failed part. Other times it is working correctly and another safety or equipment issue is preventing the AC from running. CTS can check the controls, wiring, equipment response, and thermostat before recommending a repair.

Thermostat Problems

Common thermostat and control complaints

Thermostat, no-cooling, outdoor-unit, and drain-safety issues

Thermostat is blank

A blank thermostat may be caused by batteries, low-voltage power, a float switch, wiring, transformer, or equipment-control issue.

AC will not respond

If the thermostat calls for cooling but the system does not run, the issue may be the thermostat, control circuit, indoor unit, or outdoor unit.

See AC no-start page

Comfort does not match setting

Hot rooms, weak airflow, poor temperature split, duct issues, and system performance can make a thermostat look wrong.

Thermostat FAQs

Answers about repair, replacement, maintenance, and service.

Does a bad thermostat always need replacement?

Not always. A thermostat can be the problem, but wiring, low-voltage power, float switches, and equipment issues can cause the same complaint.

Can a clogged drain make the thermostat go blank?

Sometimes. If a safety float switch opens because of a drain problem, it may interrupt the low-voltage control circuit.

Can CTS install or replace thermostats?

Yes. CTS can diagnose thermostat and control issues and replace thermostats when that is the right fix.
